Bhavish Aggarwal, an Indian entrepreneur and co-founder of Ola cabs which is a leading taxi-hailing company in India. Bhavish Aggarwal born on 28th August 1985, brought up in Ludhiana, Punjab with his parents Naresh Kumar Aggarwal and Usha Aggarwal. Bhavish lives with his wife Rajalakshmi Aggarwal today.
Bhavish was graduated from IIT Bombay with B.Tech in Computer science in the year 2008. Soon after his education, he worked for Microsoft Research, Bangalore for two years. During this interlude, he filed two patents and published three papers in international journals. Today, Bhavish owns a lucrative and untapped company called Ola Cabs in the Indian market.
The idea of Ola came up when he was traveling Bandipur from Bangalore and found himself left high and dry in the middle of the road. The cab driver negotiated and abandons him by the roadside and that is when he realized the dilemma of the travelers everywhere.

He knew he had a lot that can be capitalized and saw the amount of potential that an extraordinary cab booking service could have in this country. To chase his dream of entrepreneurship, he started an online company from a holiday and tour planning he shifted his business focus to Ola cabs.
Ola Cabs Story
Bhavish with his co-founder Ankit Bhati launched OLA on 3rd December 2010. Ankit is an alumnus of IIT Bombay graduated in mechanical engineering and post-graduated in CAD and Automation. He worked with several other companies like Wilcom, QED42, etc. till 2009. But soon he realized that his professional life was not more than his intellect and he gave up his job for his start-up. He joined the OLA cabs journey in November 2010 and worked as Head of technical aspects in Ola.
No start-up is easy and this was more with family hurdles. Bhavish’s parents disagreed with his decision to quit his settled job and become a travel agent. But they were later astonished to see the first round of success with investors from the founder of Snapdeal.
Slowly Ola became the first biggest platform all over the world to connect cabs to their travelers directly on just one click. The founders shifted their base from Bangalore to Mumbai and took a step forward to launch an application to book ride on just one touch. But soon by the year-end, the competitor in the form of Uber cabs were challenging them. Nevertheless, Ola preserved.
Ola provided smooth and entertained ride to its every customer. It also provides its customers to choose their car type for a ride depending upon the number of travelers, budget, and convenience. Soon after cars, Ola expanded its company to hire an auto, bike, and even e-rickshaws depending upon customer’s convenience. Along with that, Ola also provides rental cars to travel outside the city at just Rs. 6/km.
Ola provides cashless travel with simple recharge to Ola money. Ola has always provided its traveler with comfortable and safe rides which made it the top travel company in India. Ola provides verified drivers, an emergency alert button and lives ride tracking feature which ensures safe travel experience.
The Ola serves in more than 100 cities all over India and more than 7 lakh travelers use Ola for their rides daily. The company has launched its service in Australia.
Bhavish Aggarwal’s journey from a tourism company to the biggest taxi-hailing company, his dream made his name in aspiring and successful entrepreneur’s list. Bhavish and Ankit’s determination for success is proof that everything is possible with due hard work and focus. Bhavish was also awarded as Entrepreneur of the year, 2017.
The biggest challenge still he faces is the availability of skilled manpower and licensed drivers with a clean background to ensure the success for long terms.
Bhavish knew that his idea was looking crazy but he believed in himself and he got his idea sky high to reach untouched till yet. Bhavish and Ankit is the youngest richest person today.
