Aeronautical Engineer and Aerospace Engineering

B. Tech (Aero) degree can be taken from a recognized college. Some of the distinguished colleges that provide this degree are given below:

The total degree course is of 4 years, and the student must have a good command of physics, mathematics, and chemistry. The student must choose these subjects in 12th standard and score good marks. Along with this, a good percentage is required in JEE and JEE Advanced entrance examinations. For the PG engineering courses like M.Tech, one has to clear the GATE exam with a good percentage.

The students who wish to pass this examination have to work hard. The student having a B.Tech degree can further continue with post-graduation and doctorate at the above-mentioned college. Other than these institutes, the Indian Institute of Science, Banglore also offers post-graduation and Ph.D. degrees in these subjects.

The students are taught about the navigation system, control system, the management and development of structural design, and other quality checks. After degree completion, one can not only design aircraft but also the turbine, high-speed trains, and other flying gadgets.

Aeronautical Society of India

Aeronautical Society of India every year conducts 2 associate membership examinations in which if one scores good percentile in both sections ‘A’ and ‘B’ are considered equally a B.Tech degree holder. Based on this examination, one can be admitted to a post-graduation course.

Along with that, based on this examination, one can also apply for the jobs given by the Union Public Service Commission, government, or by semi-government.

Aeronautical society examinations are nearly the same as that of Amie (Associate members of the Institute of engineers) in which each section ‘A’ and ‘B’ has 10 papers. These papers are related to mathematics, science, engineering, and aeronautical engineering. Every year on average only 40-50 students pass this examination.

The eligibility for this examination is that one must have physics, chemistry, and mathematics in standard 12th or 3 years Diploma course is compulsory.

Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence

For the maintenance and damage recovery of the aircraft, the A.M.I license is necessarily offered by DGCA. Even for the B.Tech (Aero) degree holder who wishes for the maintenance and repair of the plane, it is necessary to have the A.M.I license. These engineers are called Aircraft Maintenance engineers or Ground engineers. For this license, one has to clear 3 examinations arranged by DGCA, and after that oral examination is conducted which is called an Interview round.

The three examinations are as given below:

  • Paper -I (Aircraft rules and regulations)
  • Paper-II (Aircraft general engineering and maintenance practice)
  • Paper- III ( Airframe or engine or related subjects)

These papers are difficult to solve and this is intentional that one who clears the examination must know every part and device of the aircraft so that they can work individually with the maintenance and repair work of airplanes.

The license given by DGCA is offered after lots of hard work and difficulty but there is a lot of importance to this license. The license holder can get jobs easily in aviation companies and the paid revenue is also more compared to others.

The Director-General of Civil Aviation has given recognization to many private institutions all over the country through which one can get the entire trial examination (written, oral, and practical) for an AMI license. There is a big misunderstanding in the minds of people that entering the field of aircraft is only necessary to obtain a degree in aeronautical engineering but this is a wrong conception.
