Conservation Of Water

Conservation of water

The most important natural resources of the earth are air, water, and land. The part of the earth which is made of air is called the atmosphere. The part of the earth which is made of land is called the lithosphere. The part of the earth which is made of water is called the hydrosphere. The atmosphere, lithosphere, and hydrosphere together form the biosphere. 71% area of the earth is covered with water. But only 3% of water is freshwater which is very less quantity.

The population of the globe is increasing rapidly. The villages are becoming towns and towns are becoming cities. With the increase in population, the demand for water is also increasing. We need water every day. We need water for drinking, washing, bathing we can hardly imagine our life without water. But the availability of freshwater is limited on the earth. In order to meet the need for water. water must be used judiciously. In other words, we must conserve water.

Water conservation means using water carefully and avoiding unnecessary use of water. Because of global warming and increasing pollution, sudden changes are happening in the climate. This causes irregular rainfall which results in water scarcity. water scarcity can cause the death of people or consumption of unclean water can lead to the spreading of deadly diseases. We see thousands of farmers attempting suicide in India because of water scarcity.

The main occupation of Indian people is agriculture our economy largely depends upon agriculture. The farmers in India depend on rainwater for farming. Irregular rainfall cause scarcity of water. Because of water scarcity, the farmers have to suffer a lot and it also slowdowns the economic progress of the country.

In city, the situation is even worse. The youth from small villages and towns are coming to cities in search of jobs. As a result, there is a population explosion in the city. The population of the city is increasing and the freshwater bodies of the city could not fulfill the demand of the increasing population. In some metro cities, people have to pay money for drinking water. Rich people can buy water but the condition of poor people is unimaginable.

Another important problem is increasing water pollution. Our government is corrupt and there is no vigilance on factories that directly release chemical waste into rivers and lakes. This results in the pollution of freshwater bodies which in turn causes water scarcity.

It is rightly said that save water saves the earth. If we don’t save water then a day might come when people will kill people for water there will be a civil war for water within the country. Some scholars believe that if there will be a third world war then it will be for water. Even in our daily life, we have seen quarrels among people near the water tankers of the municipal corporations.

If we want to prevent the above catastrophic event from happening then water conservation is the need of human society today.
